MICRONEEDLES AS NOVEL APPROACH FOR DRUG DELIVERY SYSTEM

ABSTRACT
Microneedles were discovered before 100 years for conceptualized drug
delivery systems, while the significantly research should be started in the
1990 while at that time the microbial fabrication technology should be
enabled. The manufactures should be interested in skin permeability so
first they interested in solid microneedles, the other like coated
microneedles with dissolved drug, then the polymer microneedle
encapsulated drug and fully dissolved in the skin and hollow microneedles
for drug diffusion only. The microneedles are mainly useful for only those
drugs which have a low molecular weight drugs and also for supplying of
drug with protein drugs and vaccines. For example influenza vaccination in that hollow
microneedle is clinically used and also used for the cosmetic purpose also. Now a day the
microneedle s is used in the ocular drug delivery and the other is the intracellular drug delivery
system. The successful application of microneedles which is depends up on the insertion and
infusion in to the skin. The other parameters are like stability, sterility, pain, skin irritation and
skin infection. But this is a convenient drug delivery for patient appliance and better
pharmaceutical option for pharmaceutical‘s drug therapy.
