ANTIBODIES MODIFIED DRUG DELIVERY FOR CANCER THERAPY

ABSTRACT
This article discusses in detail about the role of antibodies in cancer therapy. The review provides the details of the antibodies particularly monoclonal antibodies (MAbs) as carriers in cancer diagnosis. The five main types of antibodies such as IgG, IgM, IgA, IgD and IgE are listed. The function of antibodies, production of MAbs is explained briefly under this review. Also provides the information on the antigens defined by monoclonal antibodies in tumour cells, antigen specificity, antigens that are expressed by human tumours, leukemias and melanomas. The various cytotoxic drugs that used antibodies as carriers, types of carcinomas are also discussed. Conjugated monoclonal antibodies, MAbs that have a radioactive substance attached and drug attached which are still in clinical trials are mentioned.
