CLINICAL EVALUATION OF MAYILIRAGAADHI CHOORANAM (INTERNAL) AND KANDANGKATHIRI ENNAI (EXTERNAL) - A SIDDHA DRUG FOR VENPADAI (VITILIGO).

ABSTRACT
Objective: The present pilot study was designed to evaluate the clinical efficacy Mayiliragaadhi chooranam internal and kandangathiri ennai external for the treatment of Venpadai (Vitiligo). Method: The study was conducted at National Institute of Siddha, in the Department of Kuzhandhai Maruthuvam, opd Tambaram, Chennai. The author recruited 10 children in the study based on inclusion and exclusion criteria. They were given Mayiliragaadhi chooranam which itself issued in the opd of NIS, for 7 days and along with that Kandangathiri ennai was given which is prepared by the author.8th day patient was
instructed to come to opd and receive the medicine again. Likewise 7 visits patients adviced to come to the opd to get medicines and to report their progress. Total treatment duration is about 48 days. Results & Conclusion: There were a good results obtained that is, in 10 chidren improvent was dramatically good in 3, and the progress was good in 6,and mild in 3.Within 48 days to get back the repigmentation in the hypopigmented area is really an incredible efficacy of the medicines both internal and external. It has been concluded that for the management of vitiligo it would be the great pleasure to introduce these medicines for the good outcome since Current medical and surgical therapies for vitiligo, particularly when used in combination, have shown some success in the stabilization and repigmentation of vitiligo.
