ABSTRACT

In India, we can see big crowds in skin clinics. Ayurveda always tries to root out the disease. Psoriasis is rightfully termed as the Healthy Man’s Disease. Though characterised with intense scaling and itching, Psoriasis generally has a chronic history with indolent lesions which persist for months. Psoriasis is a non-infectious, chronic inflammatory disease that produces plaques of thickened, scaling skin. Some people may have severe Psoriasis is involving their entire body. A diagnosis of Psoriasis was made on the basis of signs and symptoms & correlated with Ekkushtha described in Ayurveda texts. In Ayurveda, all types of skin diseases are described under one umbrella term of Kushtha. Acharya’s have described that all Kushthas have Tridosha involvement but the type of Kushtha depends on the predominance of particular Doshas. Psoriasis is compared with Ek kushtha due to its extreme similarity. Areas of the body most commonly affected are the back of the forearms, shins, around the navel, and scalp. Psoriasis is a disease difficult to cure by its nature, so it is a difficult task for the patients as well as ‘chikitsaka’ in Ayurveda. It can be co-related with kitibha kushta / ekkushta /vata-kaphaj kushta. In Ayurveda system of medicine numbers of drugs /preparation are mentioned. Various herbal drugs and Hebro-mineral act as rejuvenator for skin. The present work has been under taken to Study-Ayurveda management of Scalp Psoriasis. A case report of 55-year-old male presented with well demarcated raised red scaling silvery patches on scalp and with it burning will be presented in the full paper.
