"PSORIASIS: CURRENT TREATMENT APPROACHES": AN OVERVIEW

ABSTRACT
Psoriasis is a quite long lasting, inflammatory immune-mediated skin disease. It causes pronounced physical, emotional and social burden including stress, skin injury, medications, intestinal upsets, skin trauma and food allergens. Pathophysiology of the disease describes that the activation and further migration of T cells to the dermis causing the release of cytokines (tumour necrosis factor-alpha TNF-alpha) which show the way to the inflammation and rapid production of skin cells. Depending upon the type and severity of the psoriasis various therapeutic mediators are available for the treatment. Different types of treatments are available such as topical therapy, phototherapy, systemic therapy, and homoeopathy. Now a days few herbal medicines are also available such as aloe vera, milk thistle, oregano oil, neem, etc. This review aims to discuss all the aspects of a disease, treatment, epidemiology, diagnosis, and complications of psoriatic skin disease.
