USE OF SEROLOGY / DNA ANALYSIS IN FORENSIC SCIENCE - A REVIEW

ABSTRACT

The types of evidences submitted to crime laboratories for serology/DNA analysis are those items on which body fluids are thought to be present. A large majority of DNA/serology cases involved sexual assaults. In most cases of sexual assaults, the identification of semen is central to supporting a claim of sexual assaults. Furthermore semen found swabs in a sexual assault kit may have more probative value than semen found on clothing or bedding because, along with demonstrating the presence of semen on the complainant.
