Vishnu Kumar Raj*, Ashish Kumar Sharma and S. K. Lariya
ABSTRACT
Aim of the present study was to evaluate the qualitative and quantitatively estimations of various phytoconstituents in methanolic extract of selected herbs. The plant materials used for the anti-acne activity were Curcuma longa, Bombax ceiba, Ficus bengalensis and Lens culinaris. Separation and Isolation of Bioactive compounds for evaluation is done by coloum chromatography and TLC. Characterization of Isolated compound was done by UV- absorption spectra, IR, NMR and Mass Spectra studies. For the identification and elucidation of the structure of the isolated bioactive fraction from
methanolic extract of all four plants, all the spectra was interpreted with the help of an expert and by direct comparison of the spectra with those reported in literature. From the interpreted data it was observed that the compound has been identified as derivative of Quercetin a flavonoids, catachol and phenolic compound.
