EFFICACY OF AKSHITARPANA IN THE MANAGEMENT OF MYOPIA: A CASE STUDY

ABSTRACT
Myopia also known as short sight is that dioptric condition of the eye in which with the accommodation at rest, incident parallel rays come to a focus anterior to the light sensitive layer of retina. Myopia can be correlated with timir as per Ayurveda. The study was conducted to evaluate the efficacy of Akshi tarpana karma in the case of simple myopia. A 22 year old female patient presenting complaints of blurred vision, eye strain and headache, having visual acuity 6/24 in right eye and 6/18 in left eye. After doing refraction and other examinations, the patient diagnosed simple myopia. The patient was treated with Akshitarpan karma with Triphala ghruta. Remarkable results were
observed after the completion of therapy.
