REVIEW ARTICLE ON FIBRODYSPLASIA OSSIFICANS PROGRESSIVA

ABSTRACT
Fibrodysplasia ossificans progressiva (FOP) is a rare, severely disabling, autosomal dominant disorder characterized by recurrent painful episodes of soft tissue, swelling and the development of tumors in connective tissue and muscle tissue. Skeletal muscle and connective tissue, such as tendons and ligaments, are gradually replaced by bone (ossified). Bone formation is seen outside the skeleton that’s extra skeletal or heterotopic bone.
