ABSTRACT
Coumarin is a fragrant organic chemical compound in the benzopyrone chemical class, althougt it may also be seen as a synthesis sub class of lactones it is naturally found in many plants, and a colourless crystalline substance in its standard state. Present work deals with synthesis of new series of benzopyrone and their microbial activity. The synthesized compounds are characterised by using Melting point, TLC, I.R, NMR- spectroscopy, Mass spectroscopy. The synthesised compounds are evaluated for anti bacterial activity by diffused assay method, using gram negative and gram positive cultures. The compound having significant anti bacterial activity by showing zone of inhibition.
Keywords: Benzofurans, Meltingpoint, TLC, IR, Massspectroscopy, NMR, Recrystallisation.
