Shashank Singh*, Ram Narayan Prajapati
ABSTRACT
Transdermal drug delivery system can deliver the drugs through the skin portal to systemic circulation at a predetermined rate and maintain clinically the effective concentrations over a prolonged period of time. Transdermal system is the system in which the delivery of active ingredients of drugs occurs by means of skin. The main advantages of Transdermal drug delivery system are enhancement of therapeutic efficiency, hepatic first pass metabolism and maintenance of steady plasma level of drug. 74% of drugs are taken orally and one is found not to be as effective as desired. In this present review article, it covers
a brief outline of various associations for transdermal patches. Their selection criteria, factors, pharmacokinetics, recent approaches in their development, evaluation, in-vivo and in-vitro techniques and stability studies.[1]
Keywords: Transdermal drug delivery system, Types of transdermal patches, Iontophoresis, Electroporation, ultrasound, microscopic projection.
