Objective: This was a record-based prospective study with the aim of assessing the the morbidity profile in children admitted with diarrheal disease. Method: The study has been conducted on male and female patients who were satisfying the inclusion criteria. A suitably designed case record form was prepared and used to record all the necessary and relevant data from the medical records of patients. Result: A total of 150 patients were analysed in
our study. Out of that 86 were boys and 64 were girls. The maximum numbers of male patients are found in range of 0-2 years and minimum numbers of patients are found in 5-9 year age group. Whereas for female also, maximum number of patients are in 0-2 years age group and minimum in 5-9 and 9-14 years. The risk of diarrhea was found more in younger children than in older patients. While analyzing the disease condition of all patients admitted with diarrheal disease, most patients had other disease conditions including vomiting and fever. Conclusion: Diarrhea is a major factor that affects the health status of children. To improve this condition, it is very important to manage the condition with more care and urgency.
