FORMULATION AND EVALUATION OF HERBAL HANDWASH

ABSTRACT
Hands are primary modes of infection. Microbial infection has emerged as critical issue in children and workers. Hand-washing is extremely imperative in healthcare and domestic sector. Numerous antiseptic hand wash are available in market such as alcohol based sanitizer. Which have some adverse effects such as itching, drying, irritation, dermatitis etc. To overcome this adverse effect of synthetic hand wash preparation. To formulate herbal hand wash using Annona reticulate leaves extract in methanol. The anti-microbial activity of the prepared herbal hand wash was tested against the skin pathogens collected from volunteers, and its efficiency was verified using Cup Plate Method. The results from Cup Plate Method showed that the hand wash prepared from methanolic extract of Annona reticulate
leaves have effective activity due to the combined activity of phytoconstituents present in the extracts. Evaluate for physical and chemical parameters. Results revealed that Annona reticulate leaves extract in methanol formulation was give efficient result in reducing the numbers of micro-organisms from hands than the commercial antiseptic hand wash thus it can be used as an antiseptic herbal hand wash with no or less side effects.
