ABSTRACT
The objective of the present study was to provide an phytochemical investigation and In-Vitro evidence for the potential inhibitory activity of various extracts of Crataeva magna Lour., on α-amylase and yeast α-glucosidase enzymes. Different concentrations of Pet.ether, Ethyl acetate and Ethanolic extract C.magna Lour,. were subjected to α-amylase and yeast α-glucosidase inhibitory assay. The absorbance was measured at 540 nm and 410 nm using UV-Visible spectroscopy and the percentage of α-amylase and α-glucosidase inhibitory activity and IC50 values of these extracts C.magna Lour,. were calculated. The
results of the present study indicate that, Ethanolic extract of C.magna is effective α-amylase and α-glucosidase inhibitor, which may be helpful to reduce the postprandial glucose levels. Hence, it may useful in the management of Type 2 Diabetes.
