Abstract

SYNTHESIS, CHARACTERISATION, ANTIMICROBIAL EVALUATION OF 2-NITRO PHENYL THIAZOLIDINE-4-ONE DERIVATIVE AND 2-NITRO PHENYL AZETIDINE-2-ONE DERIVATIVE

ABSTRACT

A new series of 2-nitro phenyl thiazolidine-4-one derivative and 2-nitro phenyl azetidine-2-one derivatives were synthesized by the reaction of schiff base (2 amino pyridine and 2 Nitro benzaldehyde) with mercapto acetic acid and chloro acetyl chloride respectively. The chemical structures of the synthesized compounds were confirmed by means of IR, 1H-NMR. The synthesized compounds showed good antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli.
