FALIJ-E-NISFI (HEMIPLEGIA) CAUSES AND TREATMENT IN UNANI MEDICINE: A REVIEW

ABSTRACT

Falij-e-Nisfi (Hemiplegia) is an age old disease and prevailing till date, it goes back to the times unknown. The Unani medicine which has over thousand years of sustained efforts and continues practical studies and researchand diagnosis and treatment of almost all prevailing diseases could not afford to avoid such a vital, important and unavoidable consequences of mental pressure, aging, environmental changes as well as vary ingdietary habits and its effects on the brain, muscles and blood circulation system as well as the nervous system of the human body. The ancient classical literature of Unani medicine reveal thatright from the father of medicine Buqrat, Galen, Antilas, Bols, Rofas, down to Hunain, Ibn-e-Maswaih, RabbanTabri, ZakariaRazi and Shaikh Bu Ali Ibn-e-Sina as well as physiciansof Indian origin Hakim Mahmood khan, Hakeem Shareef khan, Hakeem Ajmal khan, Hakim Mohd. Akbar Arzani and Hakeem Mohd. Azam khan, Hakeem Abdul Aziz and his towering sons, Hakeem Ibrahim and Hakeem Ismail, all of them have dealt with the disease and discussed its causes and treatment.
