ABSTRACT
Two simple, accurate, rapid and precise UV Spectrophotometric methods namely simultaneous estimation (method 1) and Q-absorbance ratio (method 2) have been developed for the simultaneous determination of Piroxicam (PIR) and Rabeprazole (RAB). In method 1, both the drugs exhibit good linearity over the concentration range of 4-20 μg/ml at 344 and 286 wavelengths. Method 2 involves the formation of Q-absorbance equation using the absorptivity values at 257 nm (isoabsorptive point) and 286 nm (λmax of RAB) and Beer’s Lambert’s law was obeyed over the concentration range of 4-20 μg/ml with regression coefficient 0.9992 and 0.9994 respectively. The proposed methods were validated according to ICH guidelines for evaluation of accuracy, precise, sensitivity etc. In conclusion, theproposed methods are novel, simple, accurate, precise, sensitive, rapid and economically viable methods that do not require any prior separation procedure. The proposed methods hold potential for simultaneous determination of PIR and RAB in tablet formulation.
