ABSTRACT
The study was conducted to assess and ascertain the physico-chemical
properties of Seonath River water from five different locations of Durg
city of Chhattisgarh during the month of March, 2018. The analysis
was carried out by taking certain important parameters like pH.
Analyzed parameters like pH were found within permissible limit
prescribed by IS 10500 except which decreases at some times. A low
pH value clearly indicates the status of the river water i.e. polluted.
This physicochemical parameter indicates the deterioration of water
quality which is the result of various anthropogenic disturbances. Other
source which contributes more or less in water quality depletion are
disposal of untreated domestic and sewage effluents and different types of solid wastes
directly to river.
Keywords: Physico-chemical properties, Anthropogenic, pH, sewage effluents.
