ABSTRACT
Mixed ligand complexes of Mn(III) of the type [Mn(L)(L')2], (HL = 2-
hydroxyacetophenone, 2-hydroxypropiophenone, 2-
hydroxybenzophenone, pentane-2,4-dione, 1-phenylbutane-1,3-dione
or 1,3-diphenylpropane-1,3-dione) and (HL’ = 5-nitrosalicylaldehyde)
have been synthesized by the reaction of Manganese(III) acetate with a
mixture of two different ligands in 1:1:2 molar ratios. The resulting
complexes have been characterized by elemental analyses, molar
conductances, magnetic moments, IR and FAB mass spectral studies.
Octahedral geometry has been proposed for the prepared mixed ligand
complexes. The mixed ligand complexes were also tested for their antimicrobial activity
against Escherichia coli, Staphlococcusaureus and Salmonella paratyphi.
Keywords: Mixed ligand complexes, Mn complexes, FAB mass, Antimicrobial Activity.
