A CLINICAL EVALUATIN OF KHADIRADI VATI IN TAMRAPARNA (NICOTIANA TABACUM) ATISEVANJANYA MUKHAGATA VISHA LAKSHAN

ABSTRACT
Excessive tobacco consumption by way of smoking or chewing its
various products is the etiological factor of more than 25 diseases.
Tamraparna (Nicotiana Tobacum) stated as sthavara visha and a
cardio toxin on excessive and consumption results in symptoms of oral
toxicity. Considering the ever increasing incidence of the disease, a
study was planned with an aim to clinically assess the efficiency of
Khadiradi Vati in Tamraparna (Nicotiana Tabacum) Atisevanjanya
Mukhagata Vishalakshan. An open clinical trial was conducted and a
total of 52 patients were screened 30 patients showed symptoms in
accordance with the criteria of assessment and fulfilling the inclusion
criteria. Who completed the trials whereas 10 patients were dropped
out for various reasons. Some of the commons symptoms formed the
subjective criteria of assessment viz. Oshthachimchimayan, Jihvajadyata, Mukhadaha,
Dantamoola shotha etc and were graded on the basis of severity. Hanusthambha was the
objective criteria measured using a Vernier caliper, Khadiradi vati was administered, 250mg
thrice daily to be sucked, for 15 days and regular follow-ups were taken. Informed consent
was taken prior to enrolment in the study. The results were analyzed using the Wilcoxon
Signed Rank test and significant efficacy was noted in Dantaharsha, Mukhadaha,
Mukhadautgandhya, Vaivarnyadanta, Dantamla shotha, Mukhapaka and Hanusthambha. A
conclusion was drawn that K.V. is effective Tamraparna (Nicotiana Tabacum) Ati
sevanjanya Mukhagata Visha lakshan.
