ABSTRACT
The objective of the present study was to determine the curve fitting
analysis and stability of controlled porosity osmotic pump tablet of
Atenolol. The linearity of all the kinetic models was estimated. The
optimized formulation follows zero order kinetics and the R2 for zero
order was found to be 0.999 which is considered to be the best fit
model. The drug release data was obtained, quantitatively correlated
and interpreted by these kinetic mathematical models which are
important for optimization of the formulations. These models helps to
measure significant physical parameters such as drug diffusion
coefficient and model fitting on experimental data. The optimized
formulation was subjected to accelerated stability studies as per ICH
guidelines. The temperature was maintained at 40 ± 2oC and relative humidity of 75 ± 5%. It
was observed that no significant change in the drug release by dissolution during stability
testing. This testing helps in selecting the best formulation from a series of formulations.
