ABSTRACT
This paper reports avalidated HPLC method for the determination a binary mixture of phenazopyridine hydrochloride (PHZ) and trimethoprim (TMP). In this method a rapid separation could be achieved on BDS Hypersil C18 (250 mm X 4.6 mm X 5μm particle size) column using mobile phase consisting of 20% 0.05 M potassium dihydrogen orthophosphate, pH 3.5–80% acetonitrile and a flow rate of 1.5 ml per minute. The components were monitored at 225 nm over a concentration range of (1-18) and (1-16) μg/ml with mean percentage recoveries 100.02 ± 0.869 and 100.51 ± 0.978 for PHZ and TMP, respectively. The proposed method was used to determine both drugs binary mixture in pure and dosage form. The validity of the proposed method was further evaluated by applying standard addition technique. The obtained results were statistically compared with the reported method, showing no significant difference with respect to accuracy and precision.
