ABSTRACT
The current study is done to screen the phytochemical component which is present in Vitis vinifera L (seed) and acute and subacute toxicity study of Vitis vinifera L., (seed) in Albino Wistar rats. The presence of phytochemical components present in ethanolic extract compared to others(methanol, chloroform, petroleum ether, water extract). In acute and sub -acute toxicity study were carried in rats were given 150mg ,250mg,350mg,450mg and 550mg/kg b.wt of the ethanolic extract, for 90 days. Rats were sacrificed and blood samples were collected by cardiac puncture then used for the haematological and biochemical parameter of liver was studied. The result shows presence of phytochemical components Vitis vinifera L. (seed) such astannins, Saponins, flavonoids, alkaloids, phenols. The LD50 values was more than 2000 mg/kg b.wt and there was a no significant change(p>0.05) in rat RBC, PCV, Hb and WBC counts at all concentrations compared with the control .The present study shows non-toxic effect and safety of Vitis vinifera L. (seed) extract.
