A BRIEF REVIEW OF MEDICINAL PROPERTIES OF AMALAKI (EMBLICA OFFICINALIS GAERTN) FROM NIGHANTUS

ABSTRACT
Herbs and herbal drug have created interest among the people by the clinical proven effect like anti-inflamatory, analgesic, antipyretic, immunomodulations, adeptogenic and mutagenic. Also the overuse of synthetic drug, which results in higer incidence of advers drug reaction, has motivated humans to returns to nature for safer remedies. In this review we have taken Emblica officinalis. It is believed that at the end of each Samhita and Nighantu was there. In this work a Nighantu of Susruta named Sausruta Nighantu and another by Vagbhata the Astang Nighantu are discussed. The present work aims to disscuss Nirgundi in varies Nighantus as manuscripts or just as evidence-in a chronological order. Which is important herbal drug in
various aspect like, Amalaki has also been used successfully by some ayurvdic practitioners for Rakta pitta, Prameha, Swasa, Kasa, Khaya, Pandu, Agnimandhya. Due to multiple used demand of Amalaki.
