CARBAMAZEPINE INDUCED STEVEN JOHNSON SYNDROME

ABSTRACT
Steven Johnson syndrome(SJS) is one among the clinical dermatologic emergency condition which is a serious disorder of the skin and the mucous membrane. The occurrence is most commonly due to medications and sometimes infections. The most common medications implicated in its occurrence are Carbamazepine, lamotrigine, sulfonamide, Allopurinol and nevirapine. Other causes includes infections such as mycoplasma, cytomegalovirus or the cause may remain unknown. This report is a case narrative of a patient with Steven Johnson syndrome after taking Oral Carbamazepine 200mg single dose tablet for the treatment of trigeminal neuralgia.
