ABSTRACT
Shorea sumatrana is one of Indonesian endemic plants easily found inJambi Province. Other name of this plant are Meranti Kuning andTengkawang. This species can be used as source of Tengkawang oil byusing hot pressure method. Nonpolar fraction of the fruit seed ofShorea sumatrana has antioxidant activity. Tengkawang still has betterfuture to be develop. The aim of this research to study fat seed oil ofTengkawang a endemic plant from Indonesia. The research methodconsisted of qualitative test using Gass Chromatography – MassSpectroscopy (GC-MS) and grain seed quality. GC-MS test resultsfrom tengkawang seeds oil showed that it contains Boric Acid 32,48%,Cyclotrisiloxane 1,96%, Hexadecanoic acid 18,51%, 9,12-Octadecadienoic acid (Z, Z) - 16,19%, 9-Octadecenoic acid (Z) -19,73%, - Octadecenoic acid 3.77%, and Octadecanoic acid 7.35%.Fatty acid test results showed acid number as much as 13,7925 mg KOH/g, saponificationnumber 168,4779 mg KOH/g, and peroxide number 20,4775 mg KOH/g
