ANTICONVULSANT PROFILE OF COMBINATION OF FOSPHENYTOIN SODIUM, GABAPENTINE AND HESPERIDINE IN RAT

ABSTRACT

Several studies have indicated the role of Fosphenytoin sodium, Gabapentin and Hesperidine for its anti convulsant effects individually. Thus a combination of these three drugs mixture was evaluated for its anticonvulsant potency against the standard phenytoin. Acute oral toxicity was performed as per OECD 423 and this combination was found to be safe up to 300 mg/Kg. The anti convulsant potency of this ternary mixture was evaluated using Maximal electroshock model for epilepsy in rat. The result shows that the combination of these three drugs was able to control the extent and severity of seizures in MES model.
