A REVIEW ON POTENTIAL DRUG: CENTELLA ASIATICA

ABSTRACT
Centella asiatica, a medicinal herb perennial in nature belongs to the Umbellifere (Apiaceae) family is of prime importance because of its therapeutic uses. This plant is also known as Brahmamanduki, Mandukparni, Jalbrahmi, Indian Pennywort, Manduki etc. It is well known as a memory booster. The medicinal uses of this herb is reported in skin related problems including leprosy, ulcer, eczema, varicose ulcers, psoriasis, diarrhea, fever and also have wound healing property too. The present review focuses on uses of its extracts in therapeutics. Therapeutic uses includes wound healing property, anti-depressive property, in curing gastric ulcer, in cases of venous insufficiency, antiepileptic, sedative, cognitive and as well as
antioxidative.
