FAST DISSOLVING SYSTEMS: A BOON TO PEDIATRIC AND GERIATRIC PATIENTS

ABSTRACT
Oral drug delivery remains the preferred route of drug delivery. Oral delivery is presently one of the few in the pharmaceutical industry where it is observed as the safest, most available and most efficient method of drug delivery having the best patient compliance. Innovative technologies with improved achievement, patient compliance, and increase quality have appeared in the recent past. Fast dissolving systems have collected forever-developing appeal during the end decade and the field has become a fast growing area in the pharmaceutical industry. As a drug individual nears the end of its clear life, it is frequent for pharmaceutical manufacturers to develop a given drug individual in a new and increased dosage form. Fast or mouth dissolving tablets have been developed for pediatric, geriatric and ill patients and for effective patients who are effective and carrying and
may not have approach to water, which is a major benefit over conventional dosage form. This article reviews the selection, advantages, disadvantages, mechanism of superdisintegrants, formulation technologies (conventional and patented) and marketed product of fast dissolving tablets.
