HEMOSTATIC ACTIVITY OF THE VARIOUS EXTRACTS OF THE FLOWER OF TRIDAX PROCUMBENS ON THE HUMAN BLOOD CLOTTING TIME: A COMPARATIVE IN VITRO STUDY

ABSTRACT
Tridax procumbens has an eminent identity as medicine in traditional Ayurvedic practices for a variety of disorders. It is reported to possess antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, immunomodulatory properties. Some studies have quoted the wound healing activity of Tridax Procumbens. Hence we have decided to assess the hemostatic effect of hydro-alcoholic and aqueous extracts of the flower of Tridax procumbens on human blood coagulation. The hydroalcoholic as well as aqueous extracts of the flower of Tridax procumbens were found to have coagulant properties in this study, indicating a positive hemostatic effect.
