PRASAVA PARICHARYA W. S. R TO APARASANGA – A CONCEPTUAL STUDY

ABSTRACT
Prasava is a complex process where women has to undergo series of physiological changes to bring her progeny to the outer world. It starts from true labour pain and ends at atleast one hour after birth that includes expulsion of placenta too. This has been explained by our acharyas under the heading of asanna and upasthita prasava. Acharyas says that without expulsion of apara, the women cannot be termed as sutika. Acharyas has given importance to apara patana by advising to check for complete expulsion of it followed by delivery of the fetus. At the end of prasava paricharya acharyas have discussed about apara patana which is the third stage of prasava, one of the main complication of third stage of prasava is apara sanga. In the present article an attempt is made to understand various bahya and abhyanta
paricharya in case of apara sanga described in classical texts.
