ABSTRACT
Ayurveda is a science of healthy life. For knowing and treating disease the structural concept of human body is important which is described by ancient text of Ayurveda as Rachana sharir. Sira is also one of the important structural concept which is described by acharya sushrutha in sharir sthana. Sushruta considered siravedhan as chikitasardha i.e. half treatment of disease. The diseases cured by siravedhan are not going to recur. Siras can be divided in to vedhya siras and avedhya siras. Vedhya siras are those which are useful for siravedhan. While those siras which are contraindicated for siravedhan such siras are known as avedhya siras. These siras are not supposed to use for siravedhan as puncture to these may cause severe harmful effects to body. These avedhya siras contain specific anatomical structure which
is discussed in present study. This anaotomical structure should beknown by the physician so that he can avoid these siras while practicing.
