Abstract

ANTIULCER ACTIVITY OF LAGHUSUTASHEKHARA RASA IN ALBINO RATS BY DRUG INDUCED MODULES

ABSTRACT

Spicy food and psychological stress are the main causative factor for the pathogenesis of peptic ulcer. The cigarette smoking, analgesic, anti-inflammatory and corticosteroids drugs are also the contributing factor. If the treatment of peptic ulcer is ignored that it will creates complications like obstruction haemorrhage leading to haemoptysis, haematemesis, and perforation with acute peritonitis, fainting and shock. Laghusutashekhara rasa (low dose), laghusutashekhararasa(high dose),omeprazole, distilled water formed the drug materials and Male Wister strain Albino-rats are taken for the study. Indomethacininduceulcer module has been followed. The laghusutashekhara rasa with low dosei.e, 4.5 mg in group II exhibited mean ulcer index of 1.50.51 which is comparable with that of omeprazole (1.30.61). The laghusutashekhara rasa with 9 mg exhibited mean ulcer index of 0.330.21 which is very less to that of omeprazole(1.30.61) and control and proved its highly significant antiulcer activity than standard drug.
