ABSTRACT
Strabismus, also called crossed eyes, is a disorder in which both eyes
do not line up in the same direction. It may occur due to muscle
dysfunction, trauma, farsightedness, problems in the brain, or
infections. Bupivacine hydrochloride is a sodium channel blocker local
anesthetic as well as it displaces calcium from membrane binding sites
and increases cytoplasmic Ca2+ level. This results in a particular
myotoxixcity that leaves the basal lamina, satellite cells, nerve fibers
and vessels intact allowing regeneration of muscle fibers. The present
study aims to determine the effects of Bupivacaine in treating
strabismus alone and along with other drugs. This article focuses
whether Bupivacaine injection could be used to alter strabismus in
humans in a beneficial way or not.
Keywords: Strabismus, Bupivacaine, eye alignment.
