ABSTRACT
This study was carried out to determine the prevalence of substance abuse among students of Eziachi secondary school Orlu. The study was aimed at determining the rate of substance abused, adverse effects amongst senior secondary students of Eziachi Orlu, Imo State. Data was collected using a structured, self administered questionnaire and data was analyzed using tables and frequency tables. Results showed that the commonest substance abused was sound to be alcohol i.e. Beer (31.5%) and the most frequently reason given was to increase moral (25%) and to feel belong (30%). Also in the major act verse effects or consequences is poor academic performance (30%) behavioural changes (25%).
