ANALYTICAL PREPARATION OF TAMRABHASMA

ABSTRACT

Ayuredic medicines containing mercurial preparations performing major role in treatment than herbal medicines, because it acts in low dose. The present work illustrates the physical-chemical characteristics of Kajjali maarit Tamrabhasma obtained by well define processes in Rasaratnasamucchaya text, which was prepared by tamra shodhan by five different medias, different procedures and bhasma was prepared by Kajjali as marak dravya. 16 Gajputa needed for Tamrabhasma preparation and its analytical study was done in authorized laboratory. Dadhi pariksha specially indicated for Tamrabhasma. During analytical study of raw drug copper in Tamra was found 99.16% w/w. and on in process study, loss on drying of Tamrabhasma was 0.02%w/w. Total ash found in Tamrabhasma was 95.41% w/w and Assay for Cu in Tamrabhasma was 61.24%w/w. So that we can say that the prepared Tamrabhasma was of good quality.
