ABSTRACT
Convolvulus Pluricaulis Choisy also known as Shankhpushpi belongs to family convolvulaceae and is found in most of the regions. The most likely appearance of the flower is like a “Shankh” (a marine shell) which is why the name given to this plant is Shankhpushpi (Pushpa meaning flower). It is a perennial herb has appearance like morning glory. The preliminary phytochemical screening of the ethanolic extract of leaves of Convolvulus pluricaulis was reported using different solvent system for developing TLC. In this piece of work dried powdered of leaves of Convolvulus pluricaulis has been extracted with using Soxhlet’s apparatus. Yield are obtained as in
methanol extract of experimental plant is 0.2%, 0.01% and 0.21% respectively. Using thin layer chromatography (TLC) different components Flavonoids & Phenol are isolated and identified. The Rf values of the developed spots in the different solvent systems are noted. Presence of phenolic and flavanoids shows that this plant can be use for various pharmacological studies in betterment of human life.
Keywords: Perennial herb, Convolvulus pluricaulis, ethyl acetate, phytochemical screening, TLC.
