Abstract

A CLINICAL STUDY ON THE EFFICACY OF ROHITAKADYA CHURNA AND GUDUCHYADI KWATHA IN THE MANAGEMENT OF YAKRIT-VIKAR W.S.R. TO HEPATOMEGALY

ABSTRACT

Background: Liver plays many important roles as Chayapachaya, Ranjana of Rasa Dhatu, manufacturing essential compounds, storage, detoxifications to keep the body healthy. Diet and lifestyle are major factors which influence susceptibility to liver disorders. Liver disorders are one of the major problems and it is among top ten causes of death in the western world. Here an attempt has been carried out regarding the role of Rohitakadya Churna and Guduchyadi Kwatha in the management of Yakrit-Vikar w.s.r. to hepatomegaly. Method: 40 patients diagnosed as Yakrit-Vikar in OPD and IPD Department of Kayachikitsa in Shri NPA Government Ayurveda College & Hospital Raipur, Chhattisgarh were randomly divided into 2 groups. Group-A was given Rohitakadya Churna 5 grams twice a day empty stomach with plain water and group-B was given Guduchyadi Kwatha 40 ml in the same manner with Pathyaapathya restriction. The duration of study was two months. Symptoms of Yakrit-Vikar given in Ayurveda were considered before treatment and after treatment for the assessment. Included studies were truly randomized controlled trials. Result: After treatment highly significant results were found in given symptoms such as hepatomegaly, loss of appetite, weakness, fever, Liver function test, Hb% and ESR, but group-A was more effective. Conclusion: In the present study all groups showed good results. These therapy were safe and without any side effects.
