PHARMACEUTICO ANALYTICAL AND EXPERIMENTAL STUDY OF AMRITAMANJARI RASA W.S.R. TO ITS ANTI-PYRETIC ACTIVITY ON ALBINO RATS

ABSTRACT
In Ayurveda classics Jwara is defined as which produces Shareereka and Mansika santapa, Aruchi, Atitrishna, Pida in sarvashareera and Vyatha in hridaya and also explained Jwara as sarva rogaadipati. In modern science many formulations and drugs are explained for Pyrexia, like paracetamol, diclofenac sodium, nimesulide, aceclofenac, These are having more side effects like gastritis, nausea, vomiting, giddiness etc. Thus there is necessity of still better, cost effective Anti-pyretic drug which could be given in reduced dose without any adverse effect. Amritamanjari rasa is best mentioned in Bhaishajya ratnawali even in many texts as a formulation (Herbo-mineral compound) which is best indicated in Jwararoga (Sadyojwara). In this formulation Hingula acts as Agnideepaka, Vatsanabha acts as Jwarahara, Pippali
acts as Deepani & Pachani, Maricha acts as Pachaka & Agni deepaka, Tankana acts as Lekhana and Agnikara, Jatikosh acts Laghu, Agni deepaka and Grahi, Jambhiri swarasa acts as Ruchikra, Agnidepaka and Hridya. Thus it does the Sampraptivighatana of Jwara and cures the same. So with due consideration of above reasons, in present study the drug Amritamanjari rasa, herbo-mineral formulation selected here to evaluate its Anti pyretic activity in albino rats.
