ABSTRACT
Arma is one among the Suklagatha Netra Rogas mentioned in our classics characterized by an extra growth in the Suklamandala which is gradually spreading. Vision will be impaired if it encroaches the Krishnamandala. Arma can be compared with Pterygium, a degenerative disease of conjunctiva. It is a triangular fold of extra membranous growth extending from medial canthus or lateral canthus to limbal region. Ayurvedic text contributes several type of treatment for Arma. Arma is Chhedan Sadhya Vyadhi. However in the initial stages of the disease ancient authors had advised application of Lekhana Anjana i.e. to cure the disease without Shalya Karma with the help of medicine only. Study was carried out in 30 patients of either sex in between the age of 21-60 years to assure the clinical
response of Chandanadya anjana in Arma. A significant relief was found in various sign and symptoms of Arma (Pterygium).
