BIODIVERSITY OF HILL MYNA [GRACULA RELIGIOSA]IN VILLAGE PIDIYA (GANGALOOR) OF DISTRICT BIJAPUR (C.G.)

ABSTRACT
Hill Mynah is the state bird of Chhattisgarh. It is responsibility of the state government and our duty to protect hill myna. It is found at a village Pidiya of the Tehsil Gangaloor of Bijapur in distant Naxal-affected district, situated at a distance of 165 km from Bastar. The village is situated between the Bailadila mountains and forest area of mountain Mynah natural habitat visible there. It is a matter of great joy for the biodiversity of the district Bijapur and the pride of the district for this state Government. The common hill myna (Gracula religiosa), sometimes spelled "mynah" and formerly simply known as hill myna, is the myna most commonly seen in aviculture, where it is often simply referred to by the latter two names. This is a stocky jet-black myna,
with bright orange-yellow patches of naked skin and fleshy wattles on the side of its head and nape. At about 29 cm length, it is somewhat larger than the common myna. The common hill myna is often detected by its loud, shrill, descending whistles followed by other calls. The highest population of hill myna in the month of January to April, because breeding season and lowest population of Hill Myna in the month of May and June due to migration.
