ABSTRACT
Shodhana is the essential & primary step to be followed for rasadravyas before subjecting to further procedures. In short shodhana means not only purification to reduce or remove Physical & chemical impurities of the drug but it minimize or eradicate toxic effect and potentiate the therapeutical activity of the drug, because of which the drug will act in a predictable manner. In shodhana process in different processing techniques are adopted in the contest of tamra nirvapana processing technique is mentioned. In which drug is heated to red hot & immediately immersed into prescribed liquid media. Samanya & vishesha shodhana Samskara were followed as per Rasaratna samuchaya. In this shodhana Samskara Nirvapana processing technique was adopted. After completion of samanya & vishesha shodhana of tamra was converted from flake from to powder form,
during the process change in quantity & quality of liquid media was noted. Nirvapana contributes to reduces the particle size of a drug, does the changes in physical & chemical properties, eliminates the impurities and improving the therapeutical efficacy towards the process.
