ABSTRACT
Amiodarone is an Anti-arrhythmic drug used to treat and prevent a number of types of irregular heart rhythm. The purpose of this research work was to develop mouth dissolving tablets of Amiodarone by direct compression method using the natural & synthetic Superdisintegrants to enhance the bioavailability. The blend of all the formulations showed good flow properties such as Angle of repose, Bulk density, Tapped density, Carr’s index & Hausner’s ratio. The prepared tablets were shown to have good post compression parameters and they passed all the quality control evaluation parameters as per I.P limits. Among all the different formulations, F-8 (3% w/w Xanthan gum) has
shown improved dissolution profile. Hence, F8 is considered as optimized formulation. Therefore, the present work revealed that the natural superdisintegrants have shown the equally potential activity as that of synthetic superdisintegrants.
