ABSTRACT
An antioxidant is an organic chemical compounds that inhibits the oxidation of other organic molecules which present in the body. Oxidation is a chemical reaction in which the oxygen molecules are added and Hydrogen molecules were cleaved, this process can eventually produce free radicals, leads to chain reactions that may damage the cells. Antioxidants such as thiols or ascorbic acid (vitamin C) terminates these chain reactions. Classically the term "antioxidant" is mainly used for two different groups of chemical substances, they are industrial chemicals which are added to products to prevent oxidation majorly used for the laboratory purposes and the natural chemicals found in foods and body tissue which are said to have beneficial health effects which acts as a natural free-radical scavenging compounds present in the body.
