REVIEW ON: NANOSIZE DELIVERY SYSTEM

ABSTRACT

Effective drug delivery at a targeted site is the main benefit given by nanosized drug delivery system. Nanosized delivery systems are nothing but nanosponges. Nanosponges are tiny sponges having size of about a virus and can be filled with variety of drugs. These sponges can circulate around the body until interact with specific target site and stick on surface and start releasing drug in a controlled manner. Important characteristic of these nanosponges is their solubility in aqueous form and give an effect to the drugs with poor solubility. This review highlights on the mechanism of drug release from nanosponges, preparation of nanosponges, applications, advantages, disadvantages, composition of nanosponges, evaluation of nanosponges as well as up to date studies on nanosponges.
