ABSTRACT
Traditional practices of using cow urine in therapy and medicine was traced from long back in Indian systems. Cow urine has gained a strong scientific attention due to its eco-friendly nature and its utility in the different sector like agriculture, science and technology, industry, energy, medicine. In the present study the antibacterial potentials of cow urine were investigated. Total 4 microbes were selected to test against 10 different cow urine samples. Cow urine was compared with standard drug (kanamycin, ampicillin and streptomycin) at four different concentrations i.e. 0.1, 0.25, 0.5 and 1.0 μg/ μl using disc diffusion method. Results indicated that cow urine proved superior to standard drug at 1.0 μg/ μl concentration in most of the test sample. Thus, it can be concluded that cow urine could be alternate of standard drug in drug formulation.
