SYNTHESIS, CHARACTERIZATION AND EVALUATION OF ANTI-ULCER ACTIVITY OF BENZIMIDAZOLE DERIVATIVE

ABSTRACT

1-methyl-2{[(3,4- di methoxy pyridine2-yl) methyl] sulfanyl}-5-nitro-1H-benzimidazole was synthesized by coupling 1-methyl-2-mercapto-5-nitro-1H-benzimidazole with pyridine derivative in the presence of a base at room temperature. The group frequencies of IR and NMR spectra were assigned and tested for Antiulcer activity by using the technique Cold and restraint ulcer.
