A REVIEW ON PHARMACOLOGICAL AND BIOLOGICAL ACTIVITIES OF STROBILANTHES CILIATUS NEES

ABSTRACT

Medicinal herbs as a potential source of therapeutic aids have attained a significant role in health system all over the world for both humans and animals, not only in the diseased condition but also as a potential material for maintaining good health. Since time immemorial, medicinal plants, nature’s hidden and to a large extent unexplored treasure, has been used virtually in all human cultures around the world(over 75% of the population) as a source of safe and effective medicines Plants have been used for health care and medical purposes for years. One of these is Strobilanthes ciliatus which is traditionally used for rheumatism, toothache, inflammation and allergy. Besides these activities it was also used for post delivery treatment. It also exhibit activity like antidiabetic, antibacterial, cytotoxicity, antifungal, antioxidant, analgesic, and anti-inflammatory activity. The ethanolic extract of plant shows anti-inflammatory activity. The purpose of my review is to carry out future work for higher studies.
