Abstract

FORMULATION AND EVALUATION OF BUCCOADHESIVE PATCH CONTAINING ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUG

ABSTRACT

In this investigation, buccal patch of valsartan was prepared using different concentration of Poylethylene glycol 6000 by solvent evaporation method and were evaluated for thickness, drug content uniformity, bio-adhesion strength, % swelling index, folding endurance and in vitro drug release. A combination of Carbopol 934P and Eudragit NE 30 D controlled the drug release for 8 hrs also gives better muco-adhesion strength and time. In vitro drug release studies reveal that all patches exhibited sustained release in the range of 58.45 to 95.67 % for a period of 8hours.
