Abstract

HERBS ACT ON FEMALE AND MALE REPRODUCTIVE SYSTEM: RECENT ADVANCES

ABSTRACT

Herbal medicines are getting significant attention in global health debates. In recent years, female and male reproductive system ailments have become a major health problem worldwide, affecting people across all ages and its prevalence has been increasing at an alarming rate. Currently, pharmacologic agents available to treat above problem but carry high costs and serious side effects. In contrast, herbal products used in the conventional medicinal system have been applied effectively. For this purpose computerized databases were searched to get the various plant species which have been studied for their fertility, anti-fertility, anti-implantation, ovulatory, galactogogue activity, anti-menorrhagic activity, spermatogenic activity and uterotonic effect etc.The aim of this review is an eye-bird view on the evidence of herbs commonly used by male and female disorders which proved by experimental studies. So this is the time to need to create awareness regarding the evidence for and use of herbal medicines in the management and treatment of male and female disorders.
